About

What we’re doing: BLC has always reached into the urban community to bring at-risk youth out into the rural countryside to experience God’s nature. It’s a powerful event in these kids lives.

But what happens to kids when they go back home? They find themselves back in their old world and the heart-changing experience they had at BLC gets lost in the struggle to survive.

Well, not anymore! Our urban-rural handshake is going HD – Hot Dogs that is!

How it works: Once a week starting in May 2010, each church will open their facilities for a free meal to the community. The meal will be provided by BLC – hot dogs, chips, and drinks. BLC volunteers will team up with church volunteers to serve the meal. Churches will offer activities.

The church will follow up throughout the week with youth and family activities. Children and youth will earn points toward a trip to BLC’s camp and retreat center. Each church will determine how these points will be earned.

The Goal:  BLC has always been about Bringing Eternal Radical Redemption to Youth. We know that, while a heart change can happen during a retreat at BLC, a life change happens when the urban and rural communities come together to create a spiritual safety net around these kids.  Kids will be continually involved in church activities and will be coming out to BLC events several times a year. BLC is not a once a year summer camp experience. BLC reaches out to these kids, and the churches who serve them, all year long.

One retreat can make a heart-change. One year can make a life-change.
